  4. There are many reasons for low participation of parents in the preschools. The children are first generation learners and their parents have no idea about the importance of their participation. Working hours clash also plays a role in their low participation. Some parents feel that since they have admitted their children in a school, they now do not need any participation in children's overall development. In order to overcome these shortcomings, we started visiting homes of children frequently. We interacted with parents and emphasized on the roles they can play in exploring full potential among the children. We tried our best to instill a sense of respect in parents. When this phase ended, we started inviting them to school for interactions. Nowadays, parents come on scheduled dates and freely talk about their children and they take notes of things that we share with them. It took us long to make them part of their children's education. We celebrate parent special days at school wherein parents speak their minds up. All this has changed the overall scenario at our school.

They have to work hard for the earning of livelihood and fulfill the basic needs because of growing expenses.
Also the parents are not aware about the various advantages their childern would have in their daily and basic academic development if they are in regular contact and continuously updating the teachers about their child's daily development and changes taking place in his nurturing and academic development

  15. There are many reasons for low participation by parents in the preschools.
    1. As the first step, it is important to identify that the reasons may be different for rural and urban parents.
    2. Many rural parents and those belonging to low economic strata, due to their ignorance fail to realise their key role in the development of their kid and hence do not lay much emphasis on their active participation.
    3. Their day-to-day livelihood sustenance struggles don't allow them to interact with school on a regular basis with teachers/ AWs.
    4. Many a times the objective of sending a kid to the school is the merely the mid day meal or it is considered as a creche facility.
Unless adequate awareness is created to explain their role in the holistic growth of the children.right from the early childhood days this issue cannot be addressed completely.

  18. Parents are also very busy with office work. The trend of mothers working along with the fathers has put everyone in a rush - rush situation. Sometimes, they have no inclination or energy to put in extra effort due to this. The teacher should communicate informally with them so that they are comfortable with the teacher, are updated with their child's development and also intervene where ever necessary. This will not exert any time or emotional pressure on them.

  19. Parents are working and living in nuclear families, thus they are not able to communicate with their children as per their requirements. Accordingly, the teachers in an informal way should update them about their children and also encourage them to talk freely about their concerns, wherever required so that timely intervention can be done.

  23. The following are the reasons I have seen in my school why parents involvement is less in their kids education:
    1) Mostly our parents are are from poor background, both parents need to work for livelihood.
    2) Parents hardly spend time with kids.
    3) After school child either goes to tution class or crushes.
    4) Few of the parents are illiterate, and they don't understand how to teach their kids.
    5) Few of parents think it is the job of teachers and lets not bother anymore about child education.

    How to overcome this situation:
    1) Parents and teacher interaction is must. We interact with parents and try to understand what is the situation in home and based on that we take next step .
    2) Parents are included in few of the activities with their child, help them to bond.

It is essential for parents to support the learning that happens in preschool settings at home as well. Parents who are in tune with what is happening in their child’s preschool classroom or child care facility are better able to establish a connection between what is learned at school and what takes place in the home. 98. Parents are also engage in their various activities for running their livelihood so that don't have enough time to actively engage for their child development program as guided by the preschool teachers or the Anganwadi teachers so this time boundation plays a critical role in the communication between the teachers and parents that proofs to be very drastic factor in the child's development because the communication between the teachers and the parents are not well defined and affect the child developmental process because teacher has a professional role while dealing with the child and the parents are engaged in the various professions which distract them to actively participate in the teaching learning process.
Action yo. Cater the situation can be parents and teachers have to make affective communication keeping in mind their professional hours and also parents have to take out time from their working schedule for benefit of the child

  99. Parents are less engaged in school activities due to lack of communication between teachers and parents. For that, the class teacher has to invite parents for birthday celebration and other school events. If some parents are dentists or a good story teller, they can always be invited to the school for contributing their skills. This will be a great platform and a good bond will start between the teacher and the parents. Parents will also feel appreciated.

    1. Create Flexible Communication Channels: Offer various ways for parents to connect, like emails, apps, or meetings at different times.
    2. Educate Parents: Explain the importance of their involvement and how it benefits their child’s development.

On the other hand, time obstruction and miscommunication also becomes a problem. If every parent gives importance to the parent-School meetings the children would be motivated. At the same time seriousness and participation will bring drastic changes

  138. Reasons for Low Parental Participation:
    Economic Constraints:

Many parents, particularly from low-income backgrounds, may work multiple jobs or have irregular work schedules, making it difficult to attend school events or meetings.
Financial struggles may also prevent parents from engaging in school activities that may require additional costs, such as extra classes or events.
    Lack of Awareness and Understanding:

Some parents may not fully understand the importance of early childhood education or the role they play in their child’s development.
Parents might be unaware of how they can support their child’s learning at home, especially if they didn’t have access to quality education themselves.
    Cultural or Language Barriers:

In multicultural communities, language differences may create communication gaps, making it harder for parents to engage.
Cultural norms and values might affect parental involvement, especially in communities where education is seen as the sole responsibility of the teachers.
    Limited Time and Resources:

Many parents, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, may not have the time, energy, or resources to engage regularly with the preschool due to their own personal or work-related pressures.
Overcrowded classrooms and lack of personalized support for parents to interact with teachers may further discourage involvement.
    Unwelcoming School Environment:

If the preschool does not create a welcoming and inclusive environment for parents, they may feel disconnected or discouraged from participating. Negative experiences, such as feeling judged or ignored, can also hinder involvement.
    Improving Strategies to Engage Parents:
    Flexible Communication Channels:

Use multiple communication methods (WhatsApp, emails, phone calls, and meetings) to keep parents informed and make it easier for them to connect, especially for working parents.
Consider offering evening or weekend meetings or providing updates through mobile apps to keep parents engaged.
Workshops and Training Sessions for Parents:

Organize parent workshops on topics like early childhood development, effective parenting strategies, and supporting learning at home. These can help parents better understand their role and equip them with tools to engage in their child’s education.
Offer trainings in local languages or ensure interpreters are available to address language barriers.
    Creating a Welcoming Environment:

Foster a friendly and inclusive atmosphere where parents feel valued as partners in their child’s education. School events should be open and encouraging for all parents, making them feel comfortable participating.
Parent-teacher meetings should focus on collaboration, providing space for parents to voice their concerns and share their insights.
    Flexible Involvement Opportunities:

Offer various ways for parents to get involved, such as volunteering for activities, attending events, or participating in decision-making processes.
Encourage at-home activities that align with classroom learning, such as reading together or doing simple activities to reinforce concepts, which allows parents to engage without needing to be physically present at school.
    Regular Updates and Feedback:

Provide regular updates about their child’s progress, both academically and socially, and not just when there are concerns. Positive reinforcement can encourage continued participation.
Use feedback mechanisms, such as surveys or informal chats, to understand the challenges parents face and address them effectively.
    Peer Support Systems:

Establish parent networks or peer groups where parents can support and motivate each other, share ideas, and discuss strategies for involvement. This can create a sense of community and reduce feelings of isolation.

  142. In my experience, there are several reasons why parents might not actively participate in preschool activities. Many parents struggle with time constraints, especially if they’re balancing work and family responsibilities. Others may not fully understand the importance of their involvement, thinking that education is solely the teacher’s responsibility. Socioeconomic barriers, like financial challenges or lack of transportation, can also play a role. Additionally, language differences or a lack of confidence may prevent some parents from engaging.

To address this, I think we need to improve our strategies. Flexible options, like scheduling activities at different times or offering virtual participation, can help busy parents. Regular and clear communication, through newsletters or WhatsApp groups, ensures they stay informed. I’ve seen how workshops on parenting or early education can empower families. Fun, interactive events—like parent-child craft sessions—make participation less intimidating and more enjoyable. Building trust and understanding is key to better engagement.
