ECCE requires that young children to be provided care opportunities and experiences that lead to their all round development- physical, mental, social and emotional and school readiness. NPE has viewed ECCE as an important input in the strategy of human resource development.
There are many activities for kids, such as sound boxes ectivities, frangrance of flower, touching differnt texture, etc. which help them to lern effectively. These activities empower kids to explore more from their environment and surrounding.
There are many activities like mindfullness, hands on activity like taking to garden etc. So that holistic and all round development of child can take place.
Color Sorting: Fill bowls with different colored beans, pom poms, or buttons and let children sort them using spoons or tongs. Light and Shadow Play: Use flashlights, torches, or sunlight to create shadows on the wall. Children can make hand puppets with different shapes and play with the shadows. Playdough Fun: Provide playdough in various colors and textures (e.g., glitter, scented) and let children mold, squish, and roll it. Water Play: Set up a small water play area with containers, sponges, scoops, and colorful objects. Children can splash, pour, and explore the feeling of water.

Activity: Your five senses — seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching — help you notice the world around you. They’re pretty powerful! You use your eyes to see, your ears to hear, your nose to smell, your tongue to taste, and your skin to feel. You’re going to explore how your senses work, and what kinds of information they tell you. You’ll be working with a partner at each station. Be sure to keep track of what you notice on your record sheet! • Seeing Station: Look at the pictures in the first column. Then look at the pictures in the second column. Are they the same? If not, what’s different? • Hearing Station: There are five different sealed containers. One holds a marble, one holds a paper clip, one holds some rice, one holds water, and one holds some sand. Shake each container. What do you hear? Can you tell what is in each container? • Smell Station: There are 4 containers, each with something inside. What do you smell? Does the smell remind you of something? Can you tell what is in each container? • Taste Station: There are 3 samples to taste (you might know what they are). How would you describe the taste of each sample? Is it sweet? Salty? Bitter? Sour? • Touch Station: There are 4 “mystery” bags. Close your eyes and put your hand in each bag. What do you feel? What do you think is in each bag? (Don’t worry — there’s nothing that can hurt you in the bag!)
The sensory organs are the gateways to various experiences which help to acquire knowledge and skills. The ways suggested in space4u are really interesting and will definitely help children to sharpen their senses. Registration of various senses are of paramount importance. A careful and safe provision of experiences for registration will equip kids for lifetime.
Sensory play focuses on activities that engage your child’s senses, helping them develop language skills and motor skills. It also helps with cognitive growth, fosters social interactions and encourages experimentation.
ECCE requires that young children to be provided care opportunities and experiences that lead to their all round development- physical, mental, social and emotional and school readiness. NPE has viewed ECCE as an important input in the strategy of human resource development.
Story telling with teaching aids during these crucial years will be helpful for all round Development. This period remains as one of the most important period throughout a child's period as their neurons is developing at a faster pace, which will led them to learn new things even faster than adults. Parents also must be concerned during these years towards their child as their brains will be more towards learning, they must be given active care and provide profitable teaching to them. The period will lay foundation on how the child will learn and achieve new things.
Sensory activities, in addition to being fun and interesting for babies and young children, encourage children to explore and investigate. Furthermore, these activities support children to use the 'scientific method' of observing, forming a hypothesis, experimenting and making conclusions

As sensory organs are the gateways of learning and in foundationaI years the activities through these various senses help in building strong neural connections and thus have a lifelong impact. We can devise various activities for various sensory organs which can be beneficial for the child's learning in anganwadi or preschool. 1.Activity for sense of sight:We can ask children to observe various colours and then try to find out the objects around them having those colours. This will help children to develop power of observation and colour concept. 2.Activity for sense of hearing (Ears):We can blindfold the child and ask other children one by one to ask him various questions about him(the blindfolded child). This will develop the power of recognition through voice and also language development as blindfolded child would keenly listen to the other children and listening sense would be developed. 3.Activity for smelling sense:We can again blindfold the child and provide various eatables to him to smell at and guess the food item. 4.Sense of Taste:We can bring variety of things and let children taste them one by one to give them the concept of sour, sweet, bitter, salty, spicy tastes and so on. 5Activity for sense of touch:we can bring soft and hard things and let children touch them, hold them and so on.This will not only develope their fine motor muscles, but also give them concept of hard and soft.Similarily tracing letters on sand will help them to learn writting by involving sense of touch
1. Eyes (Sight) - Instruct the children to close their eye for 10 seconds and open them. Repeat this activity 4 times. Then pose questions like, How did you feel before and after you closed your eyes? Based on their responses, the instructor will impart the importance of eyesight, why we must take good care of our eyes and learn to be patient and empathetic to those who have weak or lost their eyesight. 2. Ears (Hearing) - Play a song/music for 1-2 minutes and then Instruct the children to close their ears for another 1-2 minutes. After the children have opened their ears, pose questions like, How did you feel when you closed your ears and after you opened your ears?, Which one do you feel more comfortable? These questions should be raised to the children to help them understand that the loss of hearing can make them feel helpless which can also result in frustration. Here, the instructors’ role will be to emphasise on the importance of hearing and understanding those who are not able to. 3. Nose (Smell) - The caregiver will present various articles with different scents like coffee, perfume, sanitizer, etc) and ask the children to smell the items one after the other. This activity will help the children to understand the concept of varied scents and how important of a role our nose plays in detecting these various smells. 4. Mouth/Tongue (Taste) - The caregiver will present four food items with distinct taste like sugar, salt, water and lemon. He/She will let the students taste them one by one in order to help them know the difference and identify it on the basis of taste. 5. Touch - The caregiver will provide ice cube(s) and a hot water bag wherein the children will touch the two and identify the difference between hot and cold. Here, he/she can also further ask the children to provide more examples where one can feel cold and the other, hot.
From birth through to early childhood, children use their senses to explore and try to make sense of the world around them. They do this by touching, tasting, smelling, seeing, moving and hearing.
Children and even adults learn best and retain the most information when they engage their senses. Many of our favorite memories are associated with one or more of our senses: for instance, the smell of a summer night campfire or a song you memorized the lyrics to with a childhood friend. Now, when your nostrils and eardrums are stimulated with those familiar smells and sounds respectively, your brain triggers a flashback memory to those special times.
Providing opportunities for children to actively use their senses as they explore their world through ‘sensory play’ is crucial to brain development – it helps to build nerve connections in the brain’s pathways.
This leads to a child’s ability to complete more complex learning tasks and supports cognitive growth, language development, gross motor skills, social interaction and problem solving skills.
We often talk about the five senses. These are:
Taste – the stimulation that comes when our taste receptors react to chemicals in our mouth.
Touch – the stimulation that comes from touch receptors in our skin that react to pressure, heat/cold, or vibration.
Smell – the stimulation of chemical receptors in the upper airways (nose).
Sight – the stimulation of light receptors in our eyes, which our brains then interpret into visual images.
Hearing – the reception of sound, via mechanics in our inner ear.
However there are two others we commonly miss:
Body awareness (also known as proprioception) – the feedback our brains receive from stretch receptors in our muscles and pressure receptors in joints which enable us to gain a sense where our bodies are in space.
Balance – the stimulation of the vestibular system of the inner ear to tell us our body position in relation to gravity.
So, what is sensory play?
Sensory play includes any activity that stimulates your young child’s senses: touch, smell, taste, movement, balance, sight and hearing.
Sensory activities facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. The sensory activities allow children to refine their thresholds for different sensory information helping their brain to create stronger connections to process and respond to sensory information.
For example, initially a child may find it difficult to play appropriately with a peer when there are other things going on in the environment with conflicting noise. However, through sensory play exploring sounds and tasks a child learns to adapt to being able to block out the noise which is not important and focus on the play which is occurring with their peer.
Another example is a child who is particularly fussy with eating foods with a wet texture such as spaghetti, the use of sensory play can assist the child in touching, smelling and playing with the texture in an environment with little expectation.
As the child develops trust and understanding of this texture it helps build positive pathways in the brain to say it is safe to engage with this food. Sensory play literally helps shape what children to believe to be positive and safe in the brain. Ultimately, shaping the choices children make and impacting behavior.
Here are 5 reasons why sensory play is beneficial:
Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain’s pathways, which lead to the child’s ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction. This type of play aids in developing and enhancing memory Sensory play is great for calming an anxious or frustrated child This helps children learn sensory attributes (hot, cold, sticky, dry)
very active, enthusiastic and discovering and rapid sensory cognitive and physical development age really needs supportive activities which nourish and help in building strong generations.so, teachers and persons working or involved with this age group really need to be very active, should have creative and vibrant mind set and willingness.its not just the job its the commitment towards humanity.

90 percent of child's brain has been done till 5 yrs of age. And home environment plays an important part in child's life. A calm and happy environment helps in positive development. But negative environment, where there is no peace and quarrelsome environment, the child will remain scared every time. It will stop the child for further development. So sensory activities and experiences which are positive will help the child. So the parents should also be educated about these things.

Pre-school age is very crucial period..Intigrated developments will happen in this age(3-6)..i.e physical, social, emotional, cognitive, creative, language developments...Nuron system development 90% in this age..so ANGANWADI s,pre school s.. must should be stimulation of children in this period..
Think about sensory activities and experiences for each sensory organ. Share how these sensory activities are beneficial for the young children in the Anganwadi.
Reflection:-
There could be infinite sensory activities and experiences for each sensory organ. Anyone, can use these activities for the holistic development of pre-schoolers i.e., children aging from 0- 05 years of age.
For example, drawing outlining of rainbow and asking kids to colour them with seven different colurs could boost one of the prominent sensory organ i.e., eye. With this activity a child could exercise and boost the eye and its related system by coming across the different shades of colours and differentiate between them and at the same time he/she will learn about the natural phenomenon appearance of Rainbow.
However, parents and teachers should customize the activities depending upon the learning needs of the children
Sensory activities can help children in the Aganwadi for the young children in all round development physical, mental, social and emotional and school readiness.
These sensory activities make childs each sensory organ active .these will help in development of each senses. This will helpful in child development in early age. It will spread child learning.
The sensory organs are the gateways to various experiences which help to acquire knowledge and skills. Sensory activities like singing, story telling, dancing, gardening and many more which cater the development of children in their early ages.
Sensory activities are beneficial for young children of Anganwadis. We receive knowledge through our sense organs and sensory activities make our sense organs active. Activities like story telling and listening, drawing, singing, dancing, identify objects by touching etc enhance the speed of child's learning.
1.blindfolded the children and Test the racipe game, flower fragrance etc activity. 2.question about his family and around his world 3. dancing and singing activity 4.telling story
Sensory organs are: eyes to see, ears to hear, nose to smell, tongue to taste and skin to feel the touch. Blindfolded activity helps a child to recognise all these sensory.
1. Eyes to see- through treasure hunt activity- A child can be shown random objects and then he or she would be asked to recognise them and find them in their class. 2. Hearing activity - a child can be paired up with another child. 1st child will be blindfolded and other child need to give instructions for 1st child to finish the task. So here child will learn basic need to listen others. 3. Smell activity: a random objects, flowers, fruit, spices, can be displayed on table and child can be blindfolded and ask them to smell and recognise the item. 4. Taste: with smell activity we can ask the child to taste items and recognise objects. 5. Touch activity: here we can place objects like cotton, silk, rock, sand paper, feather etc and ask each child to touch and feel and then ask them how is the object hard or soft or rough etc.
The sensory organs are the gateways to various experiences which help to acquire knowledge and skills. The ways suggested in space4u are really interesting and will definitely help children to sharpen their senses. Registration of various senses are of paramount importance. Listening to Natural Sounds, observing colours of nature , feeling objects in nature keeping eyes open n then close, aromas around n tasting seasonal fruits n other eatables under the supervision of an adult or teacher are all experiential learning for a whole some early childhood learning.
Senses are the gateway of knowledge. More we use the senses ,,better will be the learning. With the help of animated videos we can develop the sense of hearing and seeing among children.
Sensory activities help the kids to develop their sense organs. It helps to build nerve connections in the brain. It encourages the development of motor skills.
It takes day-to-day work to develop and do sensory development activities in school. For each sense sensitization every day one activity has to be organized with little toddlers. for sight- we can allow children to see and observe their surroundings for 2 minutes. later on, instruct them to close their eyes and recall as much as things they have seen and make a list in their mind. For Hear- we can make them sit properly and listen to the stories carefully. later on, instruct a few students to frame questions from the story and ask other students. or give them missing statements to frame another story with the help of those statements. For Touch/Smell and Taste- we can help them to provide some experiences of seasonal and local fruits/ material/ for sweet/sour/bitter/good/ bad/rotten/hard/soft/pulpy etc. senses. It should be kept concerned that these students are very small and always need guidance and supervision on every activity.
Children should be given the freedom to choose the kind of material that helps in learning and should be encouraged to do small diy kind of things which will enhance and encourage them.
Sensory activities stimulate brain processes and helps in absorbing information and retaining it for lifetime. Such activities engage young learners in meaningful and constructive learning.
Sensory activities at an early stage are very essential to help the senses of the children. To begin with a single type of sense to be stimulated each day and later multiple senses
listening to sounds while closing eyes, walking few steps with closed eyes, chanting by closing eyes, touching objects with closed eyes, smelling various fruits

These sensory activities in an Anganwadi setting provide young children with opportunities to explore their senses, promote cognitive and physical development, enhance language skills, and support social-emotional well-being. It's important to ensure that the activities are safe, age-appropriate, and supervised by qualified caregivers or educators.
Activities where children explore various sounds, colours, textures, taste and smells help to stimulate their senses and enables them to have neural connections and thus leads to congnitive development.
We can give them picture to observe and describe, also colours to identify. Blindfold and make them recognise different sounds and also smells Play whispering game. Identify different objects from magic bag.(without looking ) Giving them lots of practice will enhance their sensory organs.
Sensory play activities often involve touching, pouring, pinching, sorting, and moving actions. Preschoolers primarily use their hands to explore, and in doing so, they build upon their fine motor skills that will later be used for writing, buttoning clothes, zipping jackets and tying shoes.
The following sensory activities, if conducted sincerely, can be beneficial for Anganwadi Students: - By audio-visual teaching, the children will have better learning about the sound as well as physical properties which would also help in cognitive development. - By teaching through different shapes and sizes. - Clay making activities - Rhymes and nursery stories - Naming the fruit, touching and tasting it blindfolded.
The following sensory activities will be beneficial to children in Anganwadi #Garlanding of different colored pearls #identification of different fruits by their images #story telling #dancing to the rhymes #different type of games related to numbers and alphabets.
Sensory activities play a crucial role in the development and learning of young children in Anganwadis. Anganwadis are early childhood care and education centers in India that provide a nurturing environment for children between the ages of 3 to 6 years. Incorporating sensory activities in their daily routine offers numerous benefits to the children's physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. Here are some ways sensory activities are beneficial for young children in Anganwadis:
Cognitive development: Sensory activities stimulate the brain and enhance cognitive abilities. When children engage in activities that involve their senses (touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing), they make connections between sensory inputs and the world around them. This helps in developing problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and memory retention.
Language development: Sensory activities often involve communication and language exploration. Through these activities, children can learn new vocabulary related to different textures, colors, shapes, and sounds. Engaging in discussions during sensory play fosters language development and improves communication skills.
Motor skills: Sensory activities require children to use their fine and gross motor skills. Manipulating objects, pouring liquids, and playing with different textures improve hand-eye coordination, balance, and overall physical dexterity.
Social skills: Many sensory activities are designed to be done in groups. This encourages children to interact, share, and collaborate with their peers, fostering the development of social skills such as cooperation, empathy, and emotional regulation.
Emotional development: Sensory activities can have a calming and soothing effect on children. They help children explore their emotions, relieve stress, and express themselves in a non-verbal manner. Engaging in sensory play can also boost self-esteem and confidence as children gain a sense of accomplishment from successfully completing tasks.
Creativity and imagination: Sensory activities provide open-ended opportunities for children to explore and create. Through imaginative play, children can invent new scenarios and use various materials to represent their ideas, promoting creativity and innovation.
Sensory integration: Sensory activities aid in the integration of sensory information from different senses, allowing children to process and respond to sensory stimuli more effectively. This integration is crucial for everyday activities and learning experiences.
Cultural awareness: Sensory activities can incorporate elements of local culture, traditions, and nature, helping children develop a deeper understanding of their surroundings and cultural heritage.
In conclusion, sensory activities are highly beneficial for young children in Anganwadis as they promote holistic development, enhance learning experiences, and create a positive and engaging environment for the children to grow and thrive. These activities should be designed with age-appropriate materials and guidance from trained educators to ensure optimal benefits for the children's development.
Improving enhancement of sensory development in children requires integrating learning through creative games ,sensory activities to enhance the senses of smell, can be developed through a game such as blind folding and asking children to identify certain scents such as the smell of common flowers, sight can be enhanced by placing charts and objects known to children and asking them to name them, taste can also be determined by blind folding them gently and asking them to identify sweetness or sourness of fruits ,hearing can be integrated with games such as playing sound tracks of animal sounds abd asking children to identify the animals. The sense of touch can also be determined through ganes such as placing cool and like warm water and asking children to dip their fingers to identify the temperature or placing objects that are big and small abd asking children to identity their sizes . These sensory activities help children to enhance their awareness and gather information through fun and creative activities.
NPE has viewed ECCE as an important input in the strategy of human resource development. The following sensory activities, if conducted sincerely, can be beneficial for Anganwadi Students: - By audio-visual teaching, the children will have better learning about the sound as well as physical properties which would also help in cognitive development.Registration of various senses are of paramount importance. Sensory play encourages learning through exploration, curiosity, problem solving and creativity. It helps to build nerve connections in the brain and encourages the development of language and motor skills
Anganwadi- is one of the Integrated Child Development Services Programme propounded by the Govt. of India in the year 1975. It caters to the children of the age group 0-6 years. Whereas, a child can be at the custody of the care- giver/ in a health care centre of in a creche/ day care centre, the nutrient requirements of the mother and the child are taken care at the government centre of anganwadi. Whereas, the Classic conditioning and Operant conditioning matters in learning; Sensori- motor learning plays a very important role from birth to 2 years of age. A new born sucks its feed through the sense of smell and the intrinsic urge to satiate hunger. As the child develops, the five senses too develop along with the mental age. Children learn by attraction to colours and gestures, voices of the care giver etc. Any activity attuned to the senses will always help. Music, toys that make sounds, colourful toys or even a small string tied to a place where it is reachable by the child's eye helps the child to develop curiosity and respond. A conducive learning environment set up by a care giver, helps child develop confidence and groom its life skills. Apart from sensorial learning experiences, a happy environment be it a family or a day care centre/ a shelter provided and taken up with involvement help the child reach the milestones of development.
Children need to stay in preschool until they are able to read/ write and understand the concept.. And most important child must be Love (unconditionally) Expect( accordingly) Limits
Sensory activities play a crucial role in the development of young children in kindergarten. Here are five benefits:
1. *Cognitive Development:* Sensory play engages multiple senses, enhancing cognitive skills like problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking. 2. *Fine Motor Skills 3. *Language Development 4. *Social Skills 5. *Emotional Regulation Incorporating a variety of sensory experiences into the kindergarten environment promotes holistic development, addressing cognitive, motor, social, and emotional aspects of a child's growth.

Activities could be done are :- 1. Blind fold tasting game to give understanding about sweet , sour , salty and bitter taste 2. Finding the difference in two pictures game for sharpening their seeing skill and observation skill. 3. Magic bag game having different children items for touching and identifying objects. 4. Different sound identification game for hearing sense 5. Dancing
Sense organs are the entry point of any experience to kid or any individual. To enhance this experience we can include various activities through playway approach and toy pedagogy. For eg. Using "jaddu ka pitara" for different harmless object to be detected through their eyes, nose, taste, ears which involve physical participation and mental stimulation .
Sensory activities, in addition to being fun and interesting for babies and young children, encourage children to explore and investigate. Furthermore, these activities support children to use the 'scientific method' of observing, forming a hypothesis, experimenting and making conclusions.
Sensory activities help in understanding of various concepts by experiential learning. For example : concrete materials like pebbles, pencils for counting and pre number concepts. Children learn things by doing through Sensory activities. This makes learners more active and enthusiastic during learning process.
Sensory activities- Seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching helps you notice the world around you. They're pretty powerful! You use your eyes to see, your ears to hear, your nose to smell, your tongue to taste, and your skin to feel.
Sensory activities 1. Visual to see - Different printed picture of animals and birds are given sort out the pictures of birds.
2. Hear - Identify the sound of 🔔 bell among the other sound. Select the objects that create sound. 3. Smell - Collect different flowers smell them . Identify the flower that has fragrance 4.Taste - Activity on taste buds . Food items with different flavours are given to taste. Tell out taste either it is salty, tangy, sweet, bitter. 5. Touch - Soft toys , wooden toys, balloons are given to touch and identify if it is soft or rough.
* Blindfolded the children and can make them to test the flower fragrance etc activity. * Question about things around them inside the classroom * Dancing and singing activity * Story telling
For sensory devlopment we can use clay and dough and allow child to make different shape size thing allowing theirs creativity to excel....by taking them to park and natural surrounding they can different animals, birds voice see ,different colour, pattern ,texture of itrees ,flower ,plant.Feel airs freshness coldness...notice ,observe the nature and practisel mindfulness as well
Activities such as tapping on the box and letting the children listen; show a ripe banana so that they see and know the colour, let them touch for texture and smell it and eat the same would help the children stimulate sensory development of see, touch, taste, smell and hear.
Sensory play encourages curiosity that will result in learning and creativity. Sensory play is an important part of childhood, and there are no limits to using sensory activities. Our best friend is Nature.
Some activities are 1. Give children a wooden spoon and a saucepan and see them exploring sound through play. 2. Finger Painting 3. Blindfold the children and give some common things to smell like flowers, mint leaves etc or taste like any vegetable, their favorite pasta or sweet, etc to guess.
Popcorn explorer is an activity which is quite simple yet effective for the young ones. While you make popcorn, let them pay attention to the popping sound engaging their hearing senses. The aromas of the delicious popcorns engage their sense of smell. Using their sense of touch kids put the popcorn in a bag. Now, let them decide if they want to use their eyes or tongue to satisfy their cravings.
From the birth..the very first sense organ with starts taking message is skin which connects baby to mother and identify her by the touch and warmth, later followed by smell , sound from mother. Once the baby starts developing to month old it interacts with vision and further by taste of the food.later all the sensory organs coordination leads development of psycho motor skill, language learning stc.
The sensory development is vital and this can be nurtured through various sensory activities such as a few below. 1. The children can develop their sense of sight by observing colours and coloured objects. 2. Children can touch objects they come across in day to day life and understand the texture of different objects. 3. Songs and trying to mimic sounds of animals is an apt exercise for hearing.
ECCE Lays the basic strong foundation for Children those who are going to Regular school after 6 years..moreover ECCE creates curiosity among children about what they are going to learn and how they are going to learn..it develops the interests to learn literary and NUMERACY among children.
Blindfold activity, listening and Identifying the sound, Touch and Tell, copy the dance moves etc are the activities that can be used to develop sensory skills.
Slime and clay usage ,silent word game ,smell and identify, water and ball game ,music instrument sound identification will help in developing sensory motor skills
The children can develop their sense of sight by observing colours and coloured objects. Children can touch objects they come across in day to day life and understand the texture of different objects.
The use of different sensory organs will help the child become more aware about the different senses in the early stage. e.g. identifying colours, making shapes with icecream sticks, feeling of hot and cold objects, learning by doing
Engaging young children with different sensorial activities like smelling flowers, touching different types of surface activity , observing and identifying different colours and shapes of objects, listening story & rhymes helps to build neural connection that lasts for long duration of time & help cognitive development of child
The activity is the magic bag in which facilitator puts the objects like toy car, balls, cotton, sponge and many more .let the child feel the objects and guess any one object ,and allow the children to explain the characteristics of that object .This activity helps to enhance the sensory skills among them.
Sensory play can help the young learner like identify food items, to identify warm and cold, to listening the sound of birds and animals. after this all-basic sensory play, we should also provide some knowledge of good touch and bad touch to these young learners.
Activities like rhyme singing, dancing, Colour sorting, flower gathering, hygienic food tasting etc. involve and fine develop the sensory organs during early childhood.

The main sensory activities are sight, sound, taste, touch and smell. Sensory play focuses on activities that engage your child’s senses, helping them develop language skills and motor skills. It also helps with cognitive growth, fosters social interactions and encourages experimentation.
Sensory play can also address two sensory systems that are often overlooked: our proprioceptive and vestibular systems.
Our proprioception sense refers to awareness of one’s body. It helps us know where body parts are relative to one another and tells us how much force we need to exert when holding, pushing, pulling or lifting objects.
Our vestibular sense, also known as our movement or balance sense, allows us to maintain balance while engaging in activities.
Examples of sensory play include riding a bike, playing with slime or even just listening to music.
Here are some sensory activities for each sensory organ that can be beneficial for young children in Anganwadi:
1. **Visual (Sight):** - Flashcards with bright colors and simple patterns. - Picture books with large, colorful images. - Sorting activities using objects of different colors.
2. **Auditory (Hearing):** - Musical games with simple instruments like tambourines or shakers. - Storytelling sessions with varied tones and sound effects. - Listening to nature sounds or recorded lullabies.
3. **Tactile (Touch):** - Sensory bins with different textured materials like rice, sand, or fabric. - Playdough activities to enhance fine motor skills. - Exploring various textured objects like soft toys, rough surfaces, etc.
4. **Olfactory (Smell):** - Scented playdough or art supplies. - Smelling different fruits or herbs during sensory exploration. - Introducing scented stickers or scratch-and-sniff books.

Remember to ensure that activities are age-appropriate and supervised to ensure the safety of the children.
90% of the brain's development occurs by the age of 5. So, it's important to teach children great deal of things. Verily sensory activities and experiences are the most helpful of the bunch. It helps them to develop various skills.
Sensory development takes place in early years ie upto 5 years of age mostly So we need to make a list of activities in a scientific manner to carry out for their sensory development
While generally speaking, sensory play involves any type of activity that incorporates one or more of the senses, there are several types or categories of sensory play. Those different types include:
Visual Sensory Play: Improves a child’s sense of vision and visual processing with games like hide-and-seek, shadow puppets, and color-mixing activities. Auditory Sensory Play: Helps children learn different sounds and improves their hearing skills. Activities include listening to or playing music, reading books, and playing clapping games. Tactile Sensory Play: Stimulates a child’s sense of touch. This can include any activity that explores objects using their hands, such as playing with sand, play dough, or slime.
They can feel the hardness and softness of anything by touching, smell anything by smelling, taste anything by tongue, and identify anything by looking etc
For the theme food, students can observe different fruits, smell them, taste them and feel the skin of these fruits. Also, children can discuss about their favorite fruits and the reason for that. Sensory experience help the learners get real experience in the form of learning.
Beating drums and bells helps in sensory development among children in different age groups. It also helps in developing brain structure and functioning.
Anganwadis have been playing a major and cruicial role in the Early Childhood care and Education (ECCE). Whether it is the physical development in terms of hot cooked meals, morning snacks or the pre school education which is offerred to the chikdren of age groups 3-6. The activities for srnsory development has a great rile to play in anganeadis as major population is in Anganwadis. And 75% brain develops in early years.
Early learning and care about a childs development is crucial. Especially in the former years of the growth. Sensory stimulation helps strength the brain connections of a child when they have positive life experiences. We can help learn and support this growth by providing sensorial development of a child via his or her 5 senses. Sense of smell can be stimulated in an activity in the garden where they can smell flowers. Sense of touch can be stimulated by touching and feeling different parts of a plqn such as flowers, fruits, branches, leaves etc. Sense of sight can be the different colors that a child sees and likes. Sense of hearing can be to quietly listen to the outside environment of the garden full of birds chirping, tree leaves whirring etc. Sense of taste could be stimulated by trying various foods which a child may or may not like. All this will help develop these senses within the brain of a child and he or she will use these connections to grow.

ReplyDeleteYour five senses — seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching — help you notice the world around you. They’re
pretty powerful! You use your eyes to see, your ears to hear, your nose to smell, your tongue to taste, and your skin
to feel.
You’re going to explore how your senses work, and what kinds of information they tell you. You’ll be working with a
partner at each station. Be sure to keep track of what you notice on your record sheet!
• Seeing Station: Look at the pictures in the first column. Then look at the pictures in the second column. Are
they the same? If not, what’s different?
• Hearing Station: There are five different sealed containers. One holds a marble, one holds a paper clip, one
holds some rice, one holds water, and one holds some sand. Shake each container. What do you hear? Can you
tell what is in each container?
• Smell Station: There are 4 containers, each with something inside. What do you smell? Does the smell remind
you of something? Can you tell what is in each container?
• Taste Station: There are 3 samples to taste (you might know what they are). How would you describe the taste
of each sample?

ReplyDelete2.
Kids in anganwadi are best placed to explore the environs using their sensory organs and in turn become more sensitive to their surrounding.
ReplyDeleteFrom birth through to early childhood, children use their senses to explore and try to make sense of the world around them. They do this by touching, tasting, smelling, seeing, moving and hearing.
ReplyDeleteChildren and even adults learn best and retain the most information when they engage their senses.
This type of play aids in developing and enhancing memory
Sensory play is great for calming an anxious or frustrated child
This helps children learn sensory attributes (hot, cold, sticky, dry)

ReplyDeleteSensory activities stimulates childs brain development .
ReplyDeleteYour five senses — seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching — help you notice the world around you. They’re
ReplyDeletepretty powerful!
Is it sweet? Salty? Bitter? Sour?
• Touch Station: There are 4 “mystery” bags. Close your eyes and put your hand in each bag. What do you feel?
Playing with sandbox, sound tubes, exploring texture with soap foam, comparing sweetness of orange and savory lemon and many more.
ReplyDeleteThese activities empower young children to explore more from their environment
ReplyDelete90 percent of child's brain has been done till 5 yrs of age.

Activities related to senses helps a child to become mentally strong
ReplyDeletePre-school age is very crucial period..Intigrated developments will happen in this age(3-6)..i.e physical, social, emotional, cognitive, creative, language developments...Nuron system development 90% in this age..so ANGANWADI s,pre school s.. must should be stimulation of children in this period..
ReplyDeleteThink about sensory activities and experiences for each sensory organ. Share how these sensory activities are beneficial for the young children in the Anganwadi.
ReplyDeleteReflection:-
There could be infinite sensory
activities and experiences for each sensory organ.

ReplyDeleteCognitive development: Sensory activities stimulate the brain and enhance cognitive abilities.
ReplyDeleteThe sense of touch can also be determined through ganes such as placing cool and like warm water and asking children to dip their fingers to identify the temperature or placing objects that are big and small abd asking children to identity their sizes .
These sensory activities help children to enhance their awareness and gather information through fun and creative activities.
Each activity which is related to the our five sences are most important for the child's overall development.

ReplyDeleteAnganwadi- is one of the Integrated Child Development Services Programme propounded by the Govt. of India in the year 1975.
And most important child must be

ReplyDeleteSensorial activities are the most essential for the development and growth of child's brain.
ReplyDeleteEarly learning and care about a childs development is crucial.
